We also finally had our appointment with the allergy specialist downtown at TX Children's. We were there for 3.5 hours, but we finally have clarity on the dairy issue. Kind of anyway. After them saying the fact that the tests were negative and we still have the hive issue if he even touches dairy, they wanted to do their own tests. Fine with me!! It was such a better experience at TCH! They brought toys in for him to play with while we sat there with the milk on his back, and even brought a fan to put on his back for if it itched. Which it did. Poor little guy. The milk hive was about the size of a silver dollar when the nurse came in to check on him. She said she didn't even have to get the dr to tell us that he was for sure allergic. She came back a minute or so later with cortisone to put on his back to help ease the itch. We're now the owners of 3 sets of twin epi-pen packs. Now I have to get the rest of the family to watch how to administer them in the event he eats dairy! The good news is that 90% of the time, kids will outgrow the allergy. Hoping he doesn't fall into that 10% range.... We're also going back in Nov. for a food challenge with egg. I'll take a scrambled egg and they'll feed it to him to see if he's outgrown that allergy!!
